Tests & measurement capabilities

ENOTRAC has the capabilities to validate theoretical calculations by means of field tests and measurements. All test and measurement campaigns are prepared and planned meticulously. Thanks to our extensive network of contacts in the industry, we can coordinate and deploy the right team to perform the measurements according to plan, even under difficult conditions. Measurements are carried out using calibrated equipment from well-established manufacturers, motivated personnel and optimised time schedules. The test results are promptly analysed, assessed, and submitted in an appropriate format.

Project example:

  • Measurements during commissioning of the new depot Bolligenstrasse of BERNMOBIL

    Measurements during commissioning of the new depot Bolligenstrasse of BERNMOBIL

    During commissioning and testing of the new BERNMOBIL depot, voltages of an unknown origin occurred while starting the vehicles and during short circuit tests. These voltages caused the overhead protection to trip and interfered with other equipment. BERNMOBIL commissioned ENOTRAC to determine the causes of these high voltages through measurement, and to carry out measurements during acceptance tests.

    Root cause analysis for overvoltage caused by arc-through of load switches

    Unexpected flashovers occurred at certain sections in the SBB overhead system, which caused electric arcs and protection trips. ENOTRAC performed a series of measurements together with SBB in order to understand the root cause of this, and to determine possible remedial measures.

    Measurements of vehicles Next und Seconda of RBS (regional transport Bern-Solothurn, Switzerland)

    Following the commissioning of the first series of the new NExT vehicles from Stadler, and the refit of the existing La Prima to Seconda trains, RBS wanted to validate the behaviour of the traction equipment under low pantograph voltage through field tests. ENOTRAC conducted these tests during revenue service and measured numerous quantities including current, voltage, speed and tractive effort.

    Network Resonance Measurements in Holland

    A team of engineers from ENOTRAC, emkamatik, ABB, Stadler and SBB carried out resonance measurements at 25 kV, 50 Hz, on the new Dutch lines HSL Zuid and Betuweroute.
