Network Resonance Measurements in Holland

A team of engineers from ENOTRAC, emkamatik, ABB, Stadler and SBB carried out resonance measurements at 25 kV, 50 Hz, on the new Dutch lines HSL Zuid and Betuweroute. A SBB FLIRT EMU was equipped with special software for the purpose of measurements. Using a traction power converter, the network was subjected to currents at various frequencies. Overhead line voltage and primary current were measured and the line admittance was calculated for the 100-12’000 Hz frequency range. It was then used to validate the previously calculated network model.

For these measurements, ENOTRAC was responsible for providing and installing the measurement equipment, as well as recording the data with a data acquisition system.
