West Coast Route Modernisation EMC signalling supply study
Study of EMC issues relating to the new signalling power supply to be commissioned on the West Coast Main Line. The signalling power supply on the West Coast lines is to be modernised in the context of the West Coast Route Modernisation (WCRM) project. The new power supply will be 400 V, three-phase and will replace the 650 V, single-phase system that has been in use for more than 50 years. Network Rail has commissioned ENOTRAC to demonstrate that it is safe to install and use the new signalling power supply in its environment. In a first stage, the EMC assessment was conducted by means of SIMNET simulations. Selected simulation results were then validated against corresponding test measurements. ENOTRAC engineers planned and executed the measurement campaign, along with data analysis and reporting.
