Demonstration of electromagnetic compatibility of Victoria Line trains for London Underground

The inverter drives, drive control unit, and auxiliary converters of the new Victoria Line trains for London Underground (LU), are being developed and manufactured by Bombardier Transportation PPC (Propulsion and Control Division) in Västerås (Sweden). Bombardier must provide LU with evidence that the new vehicles are compatible with the existing and new infrastructure (e.g. upgraded signalling systems) on LU and adjacent railways. ENOTRAC is supporting Bombardier throughout the entire process of providing evidence for the electromagnetic compatibility of the trains with the signalling systems in accordance with the EN 50238 standard. This includes the following tasks:

  • Planning of work packages and verification documents
  • Managing of EMC Hazard Log
  • Support by EMC tests in the laboratory and on the test track
  • Quantitative fault tree analyses
  • Demonstration of compliance  and safety case submissions to LU, Network Rail and their independent safety assessors.
